DevLog 2 - Prolonged
As a team, we immediately set on amortality as a topic for our game, as a relatively newer topic we were drawn to this intriguing mysterious and unknown world.
We focused on the moral dilemmas surrounding anti-aging treatments, aiming to immerse our players in a thought-provoking action-packed experience, giving the game a unique, twisted horror spin, blending psychological horror elements with unsettling environments.
We quickly decided that the best way to represent the concept of amortality was through a roguelike dungeon crawler where the player is caught in a constant loop striving to stay and look young forever. However, with each playthrough, they must sacrifice a part of their humanity, blurring the line between beauty and identity.
We want the tone of the game to be dark and unsettling in contrast with the bright reds that will represent the flesh and blood that the player is slowly sacrificing, this will be done through the nightmarish level, emphasizing the unsettling nature of the player’s choice, reflecting the erosion of their humanity as they pursue eternal youth.
